Many enzyme deficiencies and genetic disorders that are not discoverable before birth can be discovered and treated by the performance of a simple battery of tests. When the diagnosis is made a child may be saved a life of injury and suffering. Your Obstetrician or Pediatrician should automatically perform the tests available for all known disorders. Some states will pay for the testing, some states do not pay for the testing.

Whether your state pays for the testing or does not, you as a parent should know the facts. You should be informed about the tests that are available and can make an informed decision as to what you will want performed.

If your child is suffering because a test that could have been performed and should have been performed was not performed you may have a right to sue on behalf of your child.
