Two
of New York's highest-paid surgeons have been suspended for
abandoning a patient in the operating room after she was
anesthetized and prepped for brain surgery.
Thomas Milhorat - chief of neurosurgery at North Shore University
Hospital - and his colleague, Paolo Bolognese, were suspended for
two weeks, officials confirmed.
The Long Island hospital took the rare step even though the surgeons

Her blue eyes filling with tears, the woman abandoned in the
operating room by two of New York's highest-paid surgeons said
Monday she felt betrayed and humiliated by the doctors who were
supposed to ease her pain.
"They were all lying to me," Jennifer Ronca told the Daily

Before she went under the knives of supersurgeons Thomas Milhorat
and Paolo Bolognese, Katie Bryant was a happy and active 4-year-old
- riding her Barbie two-wheeler alone, playing soccer with her twin
brother.
Now 5, she no longer can touch her toes or walk upstairs
without pain and wakes each night and morning whimpering, "Mommy, my
back hurts, my head hurts."
